The Drunks:
A Series

by Joan Bambery

Hazy memories, blurred faces and the odd stains are all that's left from a night out spent drinking. The Series contains distorted photos, wobbly videos, and stories that are somewhere between strange and wild, all in relation to the drunks walking around East Lansing. This work explores their feelings, the experiences that came from actively engaging with them, as well as headspaces in general.

Walk through East Lansing with Joan and The Drunks
"Drunks are in their own world as they wobble through the streets with little regard to their surroundings. Working with the idea of a separation of worlds, students cut out drunks of their choosing and collaged them into a new world of their making. Thus taking the people separated from the world around them and separating them even further through a physical process of removal. How many steps away from the rest of the world can someone take? What is the outcome of that removal from normalized society?"
